There's been so much going on lately to take away from UBBT focus. The biggest effort has been to not lose the thread--to keep up with as many of the requirements as possible each day and maintain connection. My favorite moment on the journey since the last time I posted was this past Saturday. The stormy weather wasn't exactly inviting, but I managed to convince myself to take the bike out during what appeared to be a lull. My usual route is down M Street--there was major wind tunnel that was more than a bit discouraging. I "wimped out" and doubled back toward my neighborhood--"I'll just go around a big block a few times." As I rode back I saw a man pushing his car (a small convertible). After doing a quick gut check, I asked if he needed help--I rarely do this when I'm driving as I tell myself that most folks seem to have the situation in hand. He accepted, and explained it was hard for him to pop the clutch and push at the same time. I didn't have much to help with--I had my phone to track the ride, I had my empty hands, and I had my strength, which is better than it used to be. Three times was a charm, and we got the car started. I watched him drive off and finished my ride as the rain picked up a bit. I was very grateful the road had something to offer me, even though I "wimped out."
