For years the staff at this martial arts school has been coaching people, of all ages, in the process of learning and practicing the martial arts as a tool for learning and practicing the art of being a more complete, proactive, and empowered human being.
You see, this school stands for something far beyond the kick, the punch, and the throw.
We consider ourselves an integral part of the village that help parents instill valuable character traits, beliefs, and habits in their children, such as: self-discipline, the ability to stay calm under pressure, the appreciation of teachers, parents, and other mentors, and the value of proper diet, exercise, and education in a happy and fulfilling life.
We teach a brand of self-defense that transcends our physical "art"—and includes the self-defense skills of kindness, empathy, community, and compassion.
Here are just a few of the things that make our martial arts school very unique:
Results at Home and School: Our instructors team up with parents to ensure that your child takes the character lessons that they learn in the dojo and applies them outside the dojo. We do this is by requiring all karate kids to return this Intent to Promote Form which is filled out by their parents and teachers on a regular basis.
Karate Kids are Leaders: All of our martial arts kids take what they learn out of the dojo and into the world. This is done through Project-Based Leadership Training, where students help others by organizing and taking action on their own community-based project. Check out our Project Portfolio for some recent examples of projects that Zen Martial Arts students are responsible for!
Peace Before Punches: Every karate student at our school learns a system of anger control and conflict resolution called Verbal Judo from our certified instructors. This is the same system that law enforcement uses everyday to avoid physical violence—modified just for your child.
