KARATE-DO

My Way of Life

Gichin Funakoshi

In reading this great book I was inspired and captured by a few sections.

1st: Win by losing

I found this section to be of great inspirational value for me- “that even in numbers you can calm a storm”; some times in life were faced with difficult choices and how we handle them and come out ahead makes us who we are.

The moral of this section I feel is teaching how even though we can be in numbers one can speak for all and tame even the roughest of storms, that with a calm tone and mannerism any one can achieve this.

Karate has enlightened this for me in many aspects of my life; to which I am grateful for.

2nd: page 126 to be exact

Finding that the treaty of peace between Japan & U.S. was signed, that Karate’ made its own peaceful way to America, with out this happening would we have Karate’ today?

I would like and have to say “yes” to this question; the true Karate’ foundation of skill, compassion, patience within ones self would be something I’m sure someone would of found profound and inspiring to share with others.

Also with the profound admiration I hold for learning Karate’ I would hope that America would have found this to be a wonderful Japanese tradition at some point, glad we have this beautiful art to behold.

Lastly a quote I found in this book to be of great inspiration for me and hope others enjoy this as well “Today I am a wiser man...vanity is the only obstacle of life.”
