Sacramento Martial Arts and Karate

At the end of this week I’m reflecting on and savoring some minor accomplishments, and getting ready for new challenges. I’m proud of what I accomplished for UBBT during the work conference, not as much as during a normal schedule, but much more than I would have ever imagined in those circumstances:  7.55 miles ; 460 crunches and modified pushups; 6 repetitions of basics; 7 acts of kindness (this was really hard because there’s so much self-management). Meditation time was also difficult to capture—a bit here and there, so working to get more consistent this week. Having the thread of these activities run through the time also enhanced the work—the focus was better, my sleep was better, I was able to sit on the floor and get up more easily when chairs were full. It was just all-around better.

I’m also celebrating a push-up accomplishment: yesterday I performed more full pushups over the course of the day than ever before (~30), so I’m strategizing to increase that number (cf. Lisa C.) and also to work on their depth.  Progress!  I added more elliptical to this week’s cardio and am planning on getting outside and slowly building up the running distance.

The point at which you can look back at work achieved, acknowledge the progress, and then realize that you are adjusting your short-term performance goals to keep getting better is really special indeed. It has been a very long time since I have had this experience related to physical activity, so I think it’s just very cool.

The road is hard, and you did great! You rock!
Thanks for the reference. Already sore from the increased challenge. It must be working... I realized during this morning's pushups that I too need to work on the depth of all my pushups. Even more tired muscles to look forward to! :)
