Sacramento Martial Arts and Karate
Javier's boxes at home are full!
Day 1 & Day 2: Due to spring break there was no karate class, so we didn’t get to see if there was anything new in the box.
Day 3: Easter Sunday, Javier’s grandma and grandpa brought lots of donation items. Javier was so happy. After counting everything he found out there was 25 items. This brings the total to 120. Thank you to grandma and grandpa Carty for the generous donation.
Day 4 Monday: Javier received a check in the mail from his aunt. She donated a very generous amount so Javier could go shopping and buy food for the cause.
Day 6 Wednesday: We went to Javier’s aunt’s house to pick up 25 donated items. Thank you to the Rolleri Family for your donation.
Day 7 Thursday: I took Javier to the bank and we cashed the donation check we received from his aunt Leticia. With $50 cash in hand, along with the wish list, we went to the grocery store to buy food. Javier had fun selecting specific foods and helping to keep track of the item count and the cost, so we didn’t go over budget. In total, we purchased 46 items. Thank you to the Morales-Arevalos Family for your very generous donation. It was a fun and educational experience for Javier to receive a check, go to the bank to cash it, and then go shopping with the cash. See pictures below of Javier's grocery shopping experience.
We decided to re-organize our bins at home because they were overflowing. Javier and I sorted all the like items together. We got a very big, tall box and put all boxed cereal and crackers. Then we put all canned items together, all pasta and sauces, etc. We wanted to make sure nothing was getting smashed and that we made the best use of our space. Javier was a big help and actively involved in this task.
Total donation count after week 4 = 172
Javier unloads the grocery cart, with help from his sister.
Javier has his money ready to pay.
Javier hands his money to the grocery clerk to pay for the food.
