Fight for Families: Javier's Progress after two weeks

WEEK 2

ENDING DONATION COUNT = 66

  • Day 1:  We arrived for karate class and Javier was anxious to see if there was anything in his box.  It was empty.

  • Day 2:  We arrived at karate class and the box was empty.  However, at some point during the class someone added some donations.  Javier was so excited to see a bunch of stuff in his box.  We discovered his fellow karate classmate Simon, and his family, provided the generous donation.  A huge thank you to Simon and his family!

  • Day 3:  Javier’s grandma called and said she collected 20 donations from residents in her apartments.  Javier was so excited.  We need to go pick them up from her!

  • Day 5:  We visited Javier’s grandma and her neighbor Rebecca.  Rebecca told us that she made a special shopping trip to the grocery store, with the wish list in hand.  She happily purchased many items from the list.  In total, she donated 27 ITEMS.  We were so happy, we took some pictures. We took the stuff home and Javier put it in our box.  It is now filled to the top. Also, Javier’s grandma donated $2.00 so Javier can buy something for his box.

  • Day 6:  Javier got a large donation from his aunt and uncle.  Thank you to The Ramos Family who generously donated 20 items.  Since our collection box at home was full, we had to get a second one.  Yay, way to go Javier!!!

  • Javier and Rebecca.  Yes, the cart is full of donations.

Thank you for the great comments.  Javier is having fun counting and keeping track of all incoming donations.  It is not too late to donate.  We will be collecting items through April 30th.

Is it too late to make a donation? If not, I'll try to bring something to put in the box on Wednesday.  :)

I love the level of documentation that Javier and family are doing with this project. Not only does it help generate interest, but it captures the memory of Javier's work. It is something that he will be able to look back on with pride.
