Sacramento Martial Arts and Karate
This month is going by way too quickly. It's been a big month with a few ups and downs.
My birthday was up... the cold I can't seem to get rid of is a down. My dog eating something he shouldn't have and the ensuing vet bill... definitely a down. The raise I got last month reflecting on my paychecks... up. Falling behind on my mileage while I was sick... major bummer. The comfort of knowing that there a couple bike rides coming up that will make that right up... awesomeness.
I did manage to keep up with my sit-ups and push-ups even while I was sick and that small victory really feels good. Did fall behind a bit on kata but am making those up too. I've noticed that I'm getting a bit lazy tho. Sometimes, I skip kata, and double up the next day. While that doesn't cause me to fall behind, I feel like doing that regularly will cause me to pick up the kata more slowly. It's not necessarily just repetition that makes me learn, I guess. I think doing it every day makes me focus more. Hmm.... I still feel like things have become habits, which I like, but I need to pay more attention to the daily routine of it than to the counting of it...
I picked up an old book this week and I'm really glad I did. It's called Quantum Soup: A Philosophical Entertainment by Chungliang Al Huang. It's absolutely brilliant. It makes philosophical thought simple enough for me to understand. Not that I'm calling myself dumb, I'm just a really logical person and the intangible stuff is sometimes too "out there" for me to grasp. So... I appreciate being able to not only grasp it, but also to laugh while I'm getting it. :) Soon I'll have one more book down and 3 to go.
Still working on my community service project video. The site is pretty much ready, just have to finish the video so I can put it on the site. Again, I feel like as I work on it and talk to the charity more, I get more involved and it feels good.
So, with June heading out and July coming in, I'm feeling good. Onward!
