Sacramento Martial Arts and Karate
Sienna is in Little Dragons and is completing her project for Little Dragons Black Belt. Her project is volunteering at Triple R Adult Day Program (relate, refresh, rely). Triple-R is a program focusing on care daily care for adults with dementia. Sienna has had to prepare for her time at the program facility by first interviewing with the coordinator and passing a TB free test.
Prior to the interview, Sienna had some questions she wanted to ask to learn about what dementia was and what Triple-R was. She worked with her mother Catherine to write the questions down and be prepared to ask the coordinator and take notes. It was scary at first but she realized quickly that it wasn’t so difficult. Sienna also decided she wanted to do something nice for the adults there other than just visit. She prepared greeting cards that she made herself to give to each new friend she would meet. Sienna loves to draw and paint so decided to paint watercolor cards that she could bring with her.
After her interview and test, Sienna met her first adults that were there being cared for. They were very happy to see her. Once again Sienna felt that even though she was at first anxious about what to expect it turned out that they were very nice and enjoyed meeting them. Sienna has an appointment to return to Triple-R next week to give cards and play card games with the wonderful people there.
