Sacramento Martial Arts and Karate

A handful of my adult students and a few parents of our little ones were intrigued when I mentioned a book on diet and mindfulness recently. Some of you even liked the idea of reading it together and sharing our notes and thoughts online--a good old fashioned book club. So here is our official announcement for the Savor: Mindful Eating, Mindful Lifereading group.

Savor is co-written by famous Buddhist author, Thich Nhat Hahn and Dr. Lilian Cheung and fuses elements of science, nutrition, and Buddhist thought to create not only a wonderful read, but a great system for implementing mindfulness into your diet and in turn, you life. I highly recommend this book to you if you are interested in dieting, eating healthy, mindfulness in life, meditation, and fitness. It really is a perfect fit with what we already teach in the dojo. If you have a New Years Resolution that involves diet, exercise, or personal development, then this just might be perfect for you.

We will kick off our reading on group on January 1st and it will last about 8-weeks, working us through about one chapter a week. Most of the discussion will take place online using our website, but there will be opportunities for us to practice mindfulness together--maybe a short walk or a visit to a local restaurant. If you are interested in joining us, all you have to do is speak up. No cost, no pressure. Just share with us so we can all learn from and be inspired by each other.

To participate, first join the online discussion group. Then, just get your copy of Savor! I got my copy at the local Borders before they tanked, but I'm sure Barnes and Noble carries it as well. You can find it here on Amazon too.
