Sacramento Martial Arts and Karate
Hi! My name is Ethan Smalley and I love animals! I have a dog named Cody and a cat named Bristow (but we call her Bunny). My animals have a great home to live in with loving owners and lots of toys - but not all pets are as lucky as Cody and Bunny. I want to help other dogs and cats that do not have a cozy home to feel loved and cared for as they wait for homes of their own. This is what brought me to my decision to bring what I've learned out of the Dojo, and into the community, by helping out the Sacramento SPCA (and earning my Tiny Tiger Black Belt in the process). To do this I am dedicating myself to "keeping the creatures comfortable" by collecting new and gently used blankets and towels as well as pet treats and toys to donate to the Sacramento SPCA.
The SSPCA uses thousands of towels and blankets every year to give the pets in their care the cozy feeling of home. Please help me accomplish my goal of collecting 100 towels and blankets by the end of the summer.
A happy and "comfortable creature" is also a busy and well fed creature. For that reason I have extended my collection to include pet treats and toys. Packaged treats of any size or flavor are welcome and new or gently used toys will keep the animals busy and playful. The SSPCA request "Kong" toys for dogs as being especially useful. My goal is to bring them 100 treats and toys by the end of the summer as well.
Keep a look out for my bin and poster in the Dojo - I look forward to working with everyone for a great cause!

I did a presentation about my project to some of the classes at my school this week. I talked about Karate and how I was working to help the SPCA to earn my Tiny Tiger Black Belt. The kids were really excited and some of them are already bringing in towels and treats to help out. I talked to Kindergarteners like me, and then some First and Second graders too. My mom took some video and is going to help me figure out how to post it on here so everyone can see. Thanks again to everyone who has put things in my box! I'll write more soon - Ethan
