Hello all, My son Michael and I started training with Mr. Oliver in early September and are new to karate. It was time for Michael to start an activity that matched his interests (he is in the junior class), and I came along for the ride as well. We are both very excited at how much we have learned in almost two months--not just the physical component but also the mental discipline.
In the past few classes, Mr. Oliver has been discussing martial arts goals, and the specifics involved in attaining the black belt, including journaling. For my part, I am still exploring what that will mean for me, but knew I first had to enter the virtual dojo. :)
Welcome to the team guys. You have both taken the first few steps into what can be an endless well of growth, knowledge, and personal development if you allow it to be. You and Michael both are paying attention to the small details in your basics and this will carry over into your later training.
When setting goals, don't forget to break them down into a plan of action. Then find a way to track your progress. People are more likely to achieve their goals if they can measure and manage their results.
Isn't this digital dojo great! Glad you've discovered it! I am so happy that you and Michael are excited about everything you've been learning. See you at the actual dojo!
